Homework-Rules
December 4, 2008
After discussing the need for Rules in a Community, I would like the pupils in Primary 7A to choose one of the following for homework.
• Look out a board game. Read and write down 10 rules. Are they all important if the game is to work? Why?
• From the Highway Code list some important rules for cyclists. What would happen if these were disobeyed?
• Find and read the Ten Commandments in the Bible. (Exodus Chapter 20) Either write them in your own words or find a modern translation. Which ones still appear in our laws today or in what we believe is the right way to treat people?
• Discuss with your parents the rules they had as children and compare them with the rules you have at home now. Write the two lists down.
• In newspapers look for the laws that are being discussed in parliament or are mentioned in articles about people who have broken laws. Write down which laws are being discussed and any other important details.
• On the way home look out for any laws/rules you see indicated in public places and make a note of where they are. When you reach home, write them down and explain what they mean and why they were there.
This homework should be done by Friday 12th December as a comment to this post. If anyone is unable to do this, the work should be written in the homework jotter and brought to school on the same date.

Andrews homework
Here are some rules for cyclists.
Cyclists must wear bright or fluorescent clothing. If this is not done drivers may not see you.
At night you must have a front light, back light and reflector. This is so drivers can see you.
You must wear a helmet for your own safety.
Cyclists should use cycle routes when possible.

The ten commandments
1.You shall have no other gods but me.
2.You shall not make for yourself any idol, nor bow down to it or worship it.
3.You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.
4.You shall remember and keep the Sabbath day holy.
5.Respect your father and mother.
6.You must not kill.
7.You must not commit adultery.
8.You must not steal.
9.You must not give false evidence against your neighbour.
10.You must not be envious of your neighbour’s goods. You shall not be envious of his house nor his wife, nor anything that belongs to your neighbour.
Most of these rules appear in the law today like, you must not kill is actually one of our laws. So is you must no t steal. The others arn’t really in the law they may in other religions though.

The Laws in the Newspaers
Broken Laws-A woman was appealing against her sentence for embezzlement. She is jailed for the crime. Although she has stated that she has been innocent all along. She was found guilty of keeping almost £20,000 when she was manager of a small shop.
Laws Discussed- Scottish Fishing Industry bosses met in Oslo with European Union officials and the Norwegian Government and these talks resulted in good news for scottish fishermen as they will now be able to keep 30% of the cod that they catch in the North Sea .

Parents rules
1.Don’t talk while an adult is talking
2.Eat what is put in front of you

4.Give up seat for adult
My rules
1.Always let parents know where your going
2.Be polite and kind to others
3.Don’t go into my brothers room without permission

Some of the rules are the same but some are important nowadays and the most important rule is to let your parents know where your going. It’s important becausemore parents are worried now than back in the past.
