Cameron M’s Blitz Poem

The German planes flew through the dark night sky

Dropping bombs not caring if people die

My family and I running far away

Hiding in air raid shelters for the next painful day

I step outside and see nothing but dark rubble

Our house has been burned down

We knew the Germans were in deep trouble

Bright fire and flames surrounded our home

My parents told me we were at war

As my mouth dropped I couldn’t believe it

I gazed around and saw no light

And I knew at once it was the start of a fight

Shayla’s blitz poem.

The blitz.

As soon as we left the Anderson shelter,

You could see the destruction the bombs had caused.

We made it to the shelter in time.

Our neighbours though, weren’t so lucky.

Everyone rushed around,

Trying to find friends and family.

Many innocent lives were lost.

Many women and children.

Why does this happen?

The deaths of the unprotected and innocent.

Jamie’s Blitz Poem

We came out from  our Anderson shelter

And our bodies were starting to swelter

Holes where the bombs had hit

People covered with sweat and grit

Fire burning day and night

Causing everlasting light

Terror struck at our hearts

The world suddenly seemed very dark

The remaning houses stood tall and proud

While the rubble of the rest lay on the ground

People were screaming and crying too

A girl survived whose family made shoes

It turns into a horrible night

Whenever the German bombers take flight!
