The moment of parting

Today we did some drama about evacuation during WW2. We got into groups and acted out an evacuation role play. We finished off with still frames of the moment of parting. Here are some photos of what some of the groups did.

Animoto

We were learning how to use animoto. Dylan used animoto to make this video showing some of the main events of World war 2.

Go animate

Click here to see an excellent animation that William has done about the events that led up to the Outbreak of World war 2. He has several spelling mistakes to sort but we thought you should see it.  Matthew C also made a good one that he uploaded to Glow from home. We will let you see it soon. Well done William and Matthew.

kimberley’s evacuee poem

The feelings of an evacuee

September 1st 1939

Today, I can hear,

Children talk as loudly as a  bomb exploding.

Today I can smell

a field like a beautiful garden of flowers.

Today,I can feel

the  floor as cold as snow on a winters day.

Today I can see

People passing by like a rushing river, long and wide

Today Inside I feel

myself crying like a waterfall running down a cliff.

I am an evacuee in the train station waiting for someone to pick me!

Andrew’s Evacuee poem

Today I can hear

children crying like waterfalls pouring into the bay.

Today I can smell

foul smells like that of mouldy cheese.

Today I can feel

my stomach like a bowl full of wobbly jelly.

Today I can see

country houses as big as churches.

Today I feel as sad as a man facing the death penalty.

Now you know my story of pain and distress.

Evacuee poems

Today we have been working on how to write poems about what it would feel to have been an  evacuee in world war 2 . Here is Cameron B’s poem

Waterworks flooding

Around my eyes

I’m not the only one

Who is starting to cry

A mixture of feelings

Lone and sad

And all around

I feel completely bad

I’m as lonely as a fish

At the bottom of the sea

And when picking

They ignore me

Manky, mucky scumbag

A man said to me

Then came a lady

Who asked me to come to tea

I’m finally an evacuee.
